How to use our free hashtag generator

  1. Type your topic or niche in a few words — “vegan meal prep”, “home gym”, “travel photography”.

  2. Choose a platform: Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn or Any. The set size follows how people use hashtags there: about 10 Instagram hashtags to pick your best 5 from, about 8 TikTok hashtags, 5 for LinkedIn and 3 for X.

  3. Press Generate hashtags to get a mix of popular, mid-sized and niche tags, with duplicates removed.

  4. Tap one hashtag to copy it, or press Copy all to grab the whole set with # signs and spaces, ready to paste.

Why the right hashtags matter for social media growth

Hashtags are labels. They tell a platform's search and topic pages what your post is about, which helps it reach people who don't follow you yet. The skill is choosing labels people actually browse — and that your post genuinely fits.

A good set mixes sizes. Giant tags carry so many posts that yours is buried almost at once, while tiny ones have hardly any audience; mid-sized and niche hashtags are where a small account gets seen. For Instagram the generator gives you a bigger pool than you need, so treat it as a menu: pick the handful that match this exact post and save the rest for later. Relevance beats volume every time.

Frequently asked questions

Are these hashtags safe to use?

The tool is asked to avoid banned and spammy tags, but platforms change their rules without notice. Before using a tag for the first time, search it on the platform and check that the recent posts look like yours.

Is the hashtag generator free?

Yes. It's free, with no sign-up and nothing to install. It uses AI to choose the tags, so each visitor has a fair-use limit — generate too many sets in a minute and it will ask you to wait briefly.

How many hashtags should I actually post?

Fewer than you'd think. Instagram allows up to 5 hashtags on a post (since December 2025) — 3 to 5 specific ones work best — and X users tend to use one or two. Paste your finished caption into our free hashtag counter to check each platform's recommended range.
